Plastic garden chairs are cheap and easy to buy as you find identical ones in gardens across the furniture mall, but did you know you can paint them with spray paint and give them a new lease of life and an individual look?
In this post we show you how to quickly and easily change the look of your white plastic garden chairs with spray paint.
What you’ll need to paint your plastic outdoor furniture
To transform your chairs you are going to need two different products.
Firstly is Tech Plastic Spray Primer. Secondly is your choice of colours which you need .For this tutorial four different colours were chosen to give a quirky and individual look, but you could just as easily spray them all the same colour.
We also chose to spray one of them white to show you how you can just as effectively use spray paint to freshen up the original appearance of the chairs.
Step by step instructions
Step 1. The first step is to clean the surface that we are going to paint. You always need to do this before painting any surface, since it will help us to make the spray paint adhere much better and ensure the finish is perfect. After washing you’ll also need to ensure the surface is dry.
Step 2. Next apply the primer for plastics. It is a fast-drying transparent primer that ensures the spray paint adheres correctly and thus has greater durability.
The spray can actually be applied directly to plastic, however with this type of project where the chairs will be left outside all year. Also, receive a lot of surface contact with people sitting on them we have chosen to use the primer to achieve greater adherence for the spray paint, as well as greater resistance to rubbing and temperature changes. Also offer UV-resistant chairs
Step 3. Once the primer is dry (whenever you apply this type of product it is very important to completely respect the drying times), it is time to apply the colour.
Step 4. Once the object has been painted, it is important to allow it to dry well and review if we have any areas where we need to touch up. As you can see, in a very easy way, and the best: doing it ourselves, we can change the decoration of the house for very very little.
Tips When spray painting it is important to always paint about 15 cm from the surface and it is always preferable to apply two thin layers rather than one, so we don’t get a build-up of excess paint. Remember to keep your hand moving left to right or from top to bottom to cover all the object you are painting.
